Protect data and aid compliance with Bitdefender full disk encryption
Monday, April 30, 2018
With data security and privacy concerns at the top of every company’s priority list, it’s clear that businesses must utilise current products on the market to help implement or update their security policies to protect sensitive corporate and personal data. Products such as Bitdefender GravityZone can help protect your customer’s endpoints from ransomware, viruses, malware and other potential cyber-attacks and help safeguard user data from getting into the wrong hands.
As a complete cybersecurity solution, Bitdefender GravityZone is supported by its Global Protective Network which monitors around 500 million machines to detect suspicious patterns and protect its users against threats. To do this, it performs 11 billion queries per day and uses machine learning to understand and then predict the complex patterns found in zero-day threats. But how can Bitdefender help prevent your data being accessed by an unauthorised person?
Introducing Full Disk Encryption
The GravityZone console contains an add-on named Full Disk Encryption (FDE) which enables your customers to protect their data by utilising the existing encryption methods found on their Windows (BitLocker) or Mac (FileVault) operating system. It natively protects data on their hard drive and encrypts boot and non-boot volumes on fixed desks, desktop computers and laptops, ensuring simple remote management of encryption keys.
Bitdefender also likes to keep end user’s devices running smoothly. Their GravityZone console and FDE performs tasks in the background, so there’s never any disruption to the working day. And, as FDE is integrated into the console, there are no additional agents to install meaning it’s fast and painless for resellers to deploy.
What about compliance?
When it comes to compliance, FDE helps companies comply with several data regulations such as HIPAA, PCI, DSS and GDPR by using data at rest encryption. Should you enable the GPO System Cryptography feature, endpoint data will also be encrypted at FIPS level – one of the highest encryption methods available.
GravityZone and the FDE add-on are compatible with several operating systems. As always, you should check directly with Bitdefender to verify those listed below remain compatible.
